Organic Agave Syrup Mexico

Agave Syrup is a natural sweetener that has been praised by people around the world. Its distinct flavor profile and sweetening power, combined with its wide range of applications, has made this product an outstanding sweetening alternative.  Centuries ago, the Aztecs living in this region considered the plant to be sacred. They believed the juice from this plant purified body and soul. The agave nectar has since been used as an ingredient with multiple purposes for thousands of years; the Mexicans call this juice “aguamiel” or “honey water”. It is believed that the juice has therapeutic characteristics.Agave has long been cultivated on hillsides in Mexico. Our Agave Syrup is Fairtrade and certified organic. Once the plant has grown for 5 to 7 years, it is harvested, which is a difficult and skilled job done for decades by people known as ‘Jimadores’. The art of harvesting agave is an old Mexican tradition which is passed down from father to son, generation after generation. After transport to the factory, a milling process extracts the juice from the pineapple-shaped heart of the plant, also known as the ‘piña’. After that, the freshly extracted juice is passed through a filtration process. Throughout all of this, water usage is tightly monitored, as water is an important factor in a dry country like Mexico. For this reason the factory has set up a sustainable water recycling program. The organic Agave Syrup undergoes multiple checks and tests throughout the entire production process, to ensure that the quality of the end product complies with our high standards. In a state-of-the-art on-site laboratory, multiple tests are implemented to audit product characteristics such as chromatography, color and flavor. In addition, nitrate levels are monitored to make sure no synthetic fertilizer or pesticides were used.  At the end of the production process our premium Organic Agave Syrup is stored in drums, totes, jerry cans, or bottles, ready to be distributed worldwide.
